ISO 9000: 2000 Internal Auditing

Course code: Q1

The ISO 9001:2000 Standard (commonly abbreviated to ISO 9000) is an international quality management standard which has been in existence in varying forms since 1987. Originally aimed at manufacturing industries, during the 1990’s it was adopted by service industries, IT in particular, and since 1987 has been revised twice with the latest revision particularly targeting the service sector.

Key to the current ISO 9001:2000 Standard is the requirement for the organisation to carry out internal audits on a regular basis. In order to do this, prospective internal auditors need to know how to:

  • interpret the Standard relevant to their own quality management system,
  • carry out internal audits and
  • write effective audit reports identifying and making known findings which indicate where activities audited are non-conformant to the Standard.

Who should be an internal auditor? An internal auditor can be anyone who has an analytical and methodical mind and who can find, by means of the audit interview, how the quality management system is performing.

This one-day seminar is intended for any employees who have been identified as potential internal auditors and will give them the knowledge and skills they require to carry out this important role.
